Top of the morning to you!
For me, St. Patrick's Day is the beginning of Spring. I know that soon (hopefully sooner rather than later), the buds will start to come out on the trees, the crocuses will begin to bloom and the smell of springtime will be in the air.
Today we're having great friends in for an Irish-themed supper where I am sure we'll share some wonderful stories and laughs as we catch up from the last time we got together. The guinness is in the fridge chilling, supper is in the slow cooker (OMG it smells good) and dessert will be prepared later today.
Before that though, we'll be watching with anticipation, England play Ireland in Rugby. Being married to an Englishman and having an English father, I of course support England. It'll be an interesting one. The England team is a young one and they are playing in Ireland on St. Patrick's day. They are the underdogs, but you know what they say about underdogs. They beat France last week, they'll do it again this week.
I'll leave you now, on this St Patrick's Day, with an Irish blessing.
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
May God be with you and bless you:
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.
May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.
