Superbowl Sunday

This is the first year in 5 years that we haven't hosted a Superbowl party. Andrew loves all sports. His favourite sport of all time is rugby, but American Football (I call it that as he calls soccer football) is high up there. Even when we lived in England, Andrew would stay up and watch the Superbowl. With a 3.5 hour difference, that made for a late night.

When we moved to Ontario, we would watch the Superbowl and Andrew would always say he wanted to have a Superbowl party. When we moved to St. John's he got his chance. I was luckily enough to be able to borrow the projector from work and we set it up and had a Superbowl party. Most of the people who came were friends from work and while they weren't all fans of football, they usually had a partner who was. Over the years, the Superbowl parties continued and the football fans showed up each year. Then it happened. Babies were born, friends moved away and eventually, there was just the two of us.

And so, this is where we are tonight. Back to just the two of us watching the game. We've got our jerseys on (although neither of our teams - Saints and Colts are playing), we've got the food (some wings and Jennifer's Ultimate nachos) and we've got da beers. There's no projector, but we do have our big screen TV with a very loud surround sound system. The only thing missing are the commercials (Damn you NTV) but we'll watch them later online.

Andrew says we're having a party next year. So, I guess we've either got to get all our friends with babies to either get sitters or bring the kiddies along or we've got to get some more friends. We'll try both and see what happens.

Even if we don't, and it's just the two of us next year, I'll be sitting next to the sports fan watching the game like I always do.

Who are we cheering for tonight? New York. They just scored by the way....
